Who is William Eggleston?
William Eggleston, age 77, is a photographer who existed mainly in the 70s and 80s and has been releasing books ever since.
He married Rosa Kate Dossett born July 23rd 1941-2015 July 10th (married 1964-2015). His birthday is July 27th 1939 (77 years old). he has three children (William Eggleston III, Andra Eggleston and Winston Eggleston). Money wise he was not poor, he was more in the wealthy catagory, though he still lived a normal life, well, a normal photographer's life. From the knowledge I have collected, his parents were more supportive than unsupportive. in his career choice. The themes of his work mainly include cars, still life, landscape, portrait, black and white and he includes a lot of colour in his photos, being another theme. William Eggleston’s photography style is, albeit aged, very realistic and basic. While it may be basic it is very interesting to see what life was like back in the 70s and 80s. He used landscape, portrait and many other kinds of camera angles. He also used black and white as well as colour. He would usually take photos of cars and trucks either alone or in semi populated areas like small towns or a concentrated part of a city. He looks for the beauty and colour in mundane life.

What does his artwork look like?
Untitled. 1974
How was it taken?
This photo was taken using either a tripod or handheld camera. This car was either already parked here, though was most likely driven here by him or a friend with access to the car and parked it here to model.
Where was, it taken?
The location of this photo is unknown, though, since it appears that most of his photos are taken in country America, it can be assumed that this photo is taken around the back or side of some sort of store or factory is a small town.
What art elements are here? Describe the photo.
The art element here is shape, as most of the shapes here are very blocky and square-like, even the car is quite blocky. To me, this photo looks very relaxed and just natural. It feels like this is a scene you could find in everyday life.
What do you think this artwork means?
I think that this artwork is promoting new generation of not only cars but a new generation of life and people with it.
What is your opinion of the photograph? Do you like it? Why/why not?
I like this photograph, because it reminds me of how the 70s were showing that new generation ad and, I just really like to look of the car in the photo

Two and one quarter 1999
How was it taken?
This photo was taken using either a tripod or hand held camera, though I think it was a hand held since this photo is on a road that is being used, so it can be assumed that he may have been driving the truck, parked it and then took the photo before and other cars came
Where was, it taken
Unknown
Art elements? Describe the photo
Texture and shape are the art elements here. With the textured road and smooth rectangular truck cap
What does the photo mean to you?
Life in the more, relaxed, country side America
What’s your opinion?
Very orange based colours are seen in this photo. I feel like it's a very warm setting and I rather enjoy this type of shot.

Artist comparison between Robert Capa and William Eggleston
William Eggleston: Contemporary artist
Robert Capa: Traditional artist
How has the photograph been taken? What equipment was required?
William Eggleston would have used a handheld camera, possibly tripod, unlikely due to the slight camera tilt as is his style. Robert Capa on the other hand would have used handheld camera as his photos were in more active and constantly changing environments. Meaning that in comparison to William Eggleston's more, slow and, still photography style, Robert had to use handheld cameras because there wasn't enough time to set up a tripod for his photos
Where was it taken?
William Eggleston's photos do not usually have location, though most if not all of his photos are are taken in America. Now on the other hand, Robert Capa would be following wars in his photography, so, it can not be certain where this photo of his was taken, though it was taken in the early 19th century.
What new technologies have been introduced/used in the contemporary photograph vs the traditional photograph?
In William Eggleston's photo, there aren't necessarily any new technologies being introduced in the photograph besides modern cars of that time. But the stand out technology improvement in caparison from the contemporary photo and traditional photo is the addition of colour, allowing for more depth and connection to be made with the contemporary photo, rather than the black and white traditional photo.
Choose two main art elements. Compare them. Do the same art elements stand out? Do different elements stand out?
William Eggleston's photo has texture and colour, whilst Robert Capa's has texture and line. Both the photos do have texture though William's has more with the rough road and smooth car, whereas Robert's has texture in the grainy looking hill due to the resolution and quality of the photo. Now the stand out elements in both photos is colour. With William's it's that there are the several different bright colours. In Robert's it's black and white.
An explanation of how each photograph the work makes you feel/think. Describe the art elements which have been used to create this feeling?
William Eggleston: I feel like William Eggleston was able to find the plain bright colours in the mundane life. Set in what can be assumed the early evening/morning, the colours in this photo just stand out. The primary stand out colour being the orange red-ish break light colour
Robert Capa: War, death, fear. These are just some of the words that can describe the feelings this photo give me, it's as if some of the brutalities of war are seeping through the image at me, whilst also being a scene frozen in time. The black and white plus photo texture helps deliver these feelings to me.
An explanation of what you think the artwork means.
William Eggleston's photo is just an everyday scene to me. Like buying milk from the corner store on the way home from work. Robert Capa's photo is showing to brutality and harsh life of war.
What is your opinion of the photograph? Do you like it? Why? Why not? If you were alive when the artwork was first captured. Would you have the same opinion? Why? Why not?
William's photo to me is very calm and relaxed and I quite like it. If I was alive when the photo was taken, I would probably enjoy looking back at the time of when it was taken and remember more of my past.
Robert Capa's photo is very active and has several different things going on at once with action at every turn. I believe this photo to be a good portrayal of how war is and I respect that. If I were alive when his photo was taken I would be more emotionally attached to it as I would remember the times of war.

Replication photos

Two and one Quarter
Replica photo
To create this photo I waited for it to me sunset for more realism and accuracy to the real photo. I took my transformers outside to the side of my house. I then took out my flat white Lego pieces and placed them next to the truck to make the road dividers. I then brought out my custom Lego trees outside also to make them the main trees in frame. I placed my optimus prime down in front of the camera and then placed the other cars to the right to help replicate the photo.
I think I was successful in replicating this photo as much as I could though next time I would like to try to find a place that is more flat and has less trees in the background or, try to learn how to edit out the background to make it look more like the photo.
The reason I chose to use this photo was because there was the least amount reflection in the windows plus the best focus.
In this photo I was able to learn how to change the colour of certain objects through Photoshop.
The editing process can be seen below.

Replica photo
In this photo I built a Lego scene to try to replicate the background as best I could. I then placed my transformer in the scene which luckily looks a lot like the car in the photo. Then through the editing process i turned the previously white background blue to replicate the sky.
I think I was successful in recreating this photo reasonably well, though due to the time of day and lighting I had available, the camera had trouble focusing, and therefore was not able to produce a very clear resolution.
Next time I would like to recreate the photo at an early time of day, outside to get better lighting.
I have learnt that I need to make sure that good lighting is very important for strong resolution.
All my versions of this photo were the same in resolution and looked blurry.

Reflection
I think that I enjoyed part four replicating the photos as I got to put my skills to the test and got to replicate something the best way I could which is something I really enjoy doing.
I am happy with my final results however, I would like to he found more information on some of my photos as some of my information was very basic. I have gained a lot of knowledge in this project and William Eggleston is now my favourite photographer for his very mundane style and how well his work has aged.
If I was to do this assignment again, I would try to find more information on my photographers and get better photos.
